Gamal Seedahmed joined the faculty of the University of Florida in 2007. Gamal’s research vision and goals are focused on the understanding and development of robust automated algorithms and tools that would solve complex problems in his areas of research interests. His research interests lie in the areas of digital photogrammetry, computer vision, and image understanding. His past and current work, in a number of projects, has used insights from a number of fields such as analytical geometry, statistics, linear algebra, artificial intelligence, scale-space representation, differential geometry, and information theory to develop novel algorithms and approaches to address difficult problems in my research areas. Key results include algorithms for feature-based digital photogrammetry using conic sections, a generalized framework for spatial data matching and autonomous conflation, and image texture characterization using scale-space information modeling coupled with other approaches such as mutual information.

Gamal is the Geomatics Faculty member in charge of the Geomatics Program at the Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center. Please visit the FLREC program’s webpage for more information.
